Cathay Pacific
Our alliance with Cathay Pacific covers flights between Auckland and Hong Kong.
For our Koru members, the alliance means you can enjoy some of your benefits when you book through Air New Zealand and travel on Cathay Pacific between New Zealand and Hong Kong, including earning Airpoints™ and Status Points at the same rate as you would on Air New Zealand, carry the same baggage allowance, and take advantage of the same Koru Gold, Koru Platinum, and Koru Black benefits.
Note that the alliance with Cathay Pacific only applies to flights between New Zealand and Hong Kong, it doesn't incorporate flights beyond Hong Kong.
Earning Airpoints™
Koru members can earn Airpoints on services operated by Cathay Pacific at the same rate as they would on services operated by Air New Zealand (between New Zealand and Hong Kong only) if the flight is booked with an NZ flight number. Koru members can also earn Airpoints on services operated by Cathay Pacific between New Zealand and Hong Kong at the partner earn rate if booked with a CX flight number.
Spending Airpoints
Koru members can spend Airpoints on flights booked with an NZ flight number between New Zealand and Hong Kong, even if they're operated by Cathay Pacific.
Earning Status Points
Koru members can earn Status Points on services operated by Cathay Pacific at the same rate as they would on services operated by Air New Zealand (between New Zealand and Hong Kong only) if the flight is booked with an NZ flight number. However Status Points are not able to be earned on flights booked with a CX flight number or any other flight number that doesn't begin with NZ, such as BA4550.
Koru benefits
Koru Gold, Koru Platinum, and Koru Black receive the same benefits when travelling on services operated by Cathay Pacific between New Zealand and Hong Kong when booked with a NZ flight number as they do when traveling on Air New Zealand operated services.
Lounge access
Departing New Zealand to Hong Kong:
Koru Gold, Koru Platinum, and Koru Black may access the Air New Zealand International Koru Lounge, when departing on a booking with an NZ flight number from Auckland to Hong Kong, including NZ4993, NZ4995 or NZ4999 operated by Cathay Pacific. Usual guest allowance privileges for this lounge apply.
Departing Hong Kong to New Zealand:
Koru Gold, Koru Platinum, and Koru Black, plus one guest, may access the Cathay Pacific Business class lounges in Hong Kong airport when departing on a booking with an NZ flight number to New Zealand, including NZ4992, NZ4994 or NZ4998 operated by Cathay Pacific.
Connecting between Hong Kong and Beijing or Shanghai:
Koru Gold, Koru Platinum, and Koru Black, plus one guest, may also access Cathay Pacific Business class lounges in Hong Kong, Beijing or Shanghai when they connect to or from a Cathay Pacific flight to or from Beijing or Shanghai.
Other benefits
Koru Gold, Koru Platinum, and Koru Black travelling between Hong Kong and New Zealand on a booking with an NZ flight number operated by Cathay Pacific will receive the same (or materially similar) loyalty benefits they usually receive on Air New Zealand operated flights.
In addition to Lounge Access, these benefits include:

- Frequent Flyer Seating
- Priority Airport Stand-by
- Additional Checked Bag (one piece up to 23kg)
- Additional Carry-on Bag (two pieces up to 7kg each)
Upgrades are only available on Air New Zealand operated flights.
The above benefits aren't available on any other flights operated by Cathay Pacific, such as between Hong Kong and London, or flights booked with a Cathay flight number (starting with CX).
Nominee benefits
Koru Family Nominees, Koru Platinum Nominees, and Koru Black Nominees receive the same benefits when travelling on services operated by Cathay Pacific between New Zealand and Hong Kong when booked with a NZ flight number as they do when traveling on Air New Zealand operated services.
Lounge access
Departing New Zealand: Koru Family Nominees, Koru Platinum Nominees, and Koru Black Nominees may access the Air New Zealand International Koru Lounge when departing on a booking with an NZ flight number to Hong Kong operated by Cathay Pacific. Koru Platinum Nominees and Koru Black Nominees may bring one guest.
Other benefits
Koru Family Nominees, Koru Platinum Nominees, and Koru Black Nominees travelling between Hong Kong and New Zealand on a booking with an NZ flight number operated by Cathay Pacific will receive the same (or materially similar) loyalty benefits they usually receive on Air New Zealand operated flights.

Baggage allowance
For journeys between New Zealand and Hong Kong, Air New Zealand's baggage allowance applies. For journeys that start or finish beyond Hong Kong, the baggage allowance of the airline operating the connecting sector may apply. Certain booking classes on partner airlines are not eligible to earn Airpoints or Status Points. On a partner airline flight, Airpoints and Status Points may be earned on a flight by flight basis rather than a journey basis. Booking class eligibility and earning rates are subject to change without notice and any changes will apply based on the date you travel. This information does not apply to other airline codeshares.
