There are limits on the number of pieces and the weight of baggage that you can bring with you on the flight. These limits vary according to where you are travelling. For more information, refer to checked baggage allowances.
Here are some tips to help with packing your bags:
- Remove any old airline tags.
- Ensure your luggage is clearly labelled inside and outside with your name and destination address as occasionally tags may come off.
- Air New Zealand is not responsible under the Conditions of Carriage for the loss or damage to valuables when packed in your checked baggage. We recommend you carry your tickets, passports, keys, wallets, any medications or valuable items such as cameras or jewellery in your hand luggage. We also recommend laptops are carried as cabin baggage. Please keep in mind you need to remain within cabin baggage allowances.
- All medication carried should have a professionally printed label identifying the medication or manufacturer's name or pharmaceutical label affixed to it. Customers are advised to carry a letter from their Doctor verifying the need for any medical items to be carried, as some countries require such a letter to be presented.
- Remember, due to heightened security measures introduced by aviation authorities, there are restrictions on certain items being carried as part of a customer's cabin baggage. Check what are considered security items.
- Items of a fragile or brittle nature such as glassware should not be carried in your checked in baggage. Check what are considered unacceptable items.
- Remember that some articles are considered dangerous goods and must not be carried in your baggage.
Disclaimer: Air New Zealand does not accept additional liability for damage or loss to a customer's baggage as a result of following these tips.
