You can request a companion ticket up to 355 days in advance, but you need to book your own paid ticket first. Note: Availability of these fares is limited and may not be available particularly during peak periods. We recommend you phone the Contact Centre prior to booking your own paid ticket to ensure that there are companion seats available on the required flight(s). Information on seat availability (whether provided online or by the Contact Centre) is accurate only at the time of enquiry and can change at any time.

*Companion tickets are not available in conjunction with Smart Saver fares and Global Saver Max fares, Airpoints™ award tickets, travel industry fares, prize/promotion tickets and upgrades or Seat Only or Seat + Bag products. Companion tickets are not available on Air New Zealand Flights operated by Virgin Australia.
